THE CCTV OPERATOR 2010 COURSE CONTENT
The CCTV Operator Training course consists of 32 hours of
guided training as shown in the table below.

of successful candidates. We have enormous experience in CCTV management and operations and our trainers have years of working
alongside the Police and other agencies using CCTV.
The Security Industry Authority has defined the training required to obtain your CCTV
operator front line licence. The course format is shown below and it is necessary to pass each unit in order to apply for
a licence.
Unit 1 (10 hours)
consists of the following; (written exam)
- Know the purpose and main features
of the private security industry
- Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working
in the private security industry
- Understand relevant aspects of health and safety in the workplace
- Know how to apply the principles of fire safety
- Know how to
deal with non-fire-related workplace emergencies
- Understand the principles of effective communication
and customer care in the private security industry
Unit 2 (14 hours) relates specifically to CCTV topics, whereas
Unit 1 are generic topics; (written exam)
· Understand CCTV Codes of Practice,
Operational Procedures and Guidelines

Understand the relevant Legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations
·
Understand the Roles and Responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and other CCTV staff
·
Understand the characteristics of a CCTV system
·
Understand how to make effective use of CCTV equipment
Understand Emergency Procedures
in the CCTV Control Room
Unit 3 (8 hours) relates to hands-on use of cctv equipment. (practical assessment)
